Notwithstanding the requirements of section 51506 of title 46, United States Code, and except as provided in subsection (b), during the two-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation shall treat the University of Louisiana State Maritime Academy in the same manner as a State maritime academy under chapter 515 of title 46, United States Code. Subsection
(a)shall not apply after the date on which the University of Louisiana is fully recognized as a State maritime academy under chapter 515 of title 46, United States Code.
