Sec. 1608. Assistance by United States Space Command to track fentanyl trafficking

Chapter 135 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: The Secretary of Defense and the Commander of the United States Space Command shall use the technology and resources of the United States Space Command to provide assistance to covered departments and agencies with respect to tracking fentanyl trafficking, including precursor chemicals and supplies and the entities carrying out such trafficking. In this section, the term covered departments and agencies means the following:
The Department of Justice. The Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Drug Enforcement Administration. The Office of Homeland Security Investigations of the Department of Homeland Security. Any other department or agency of the Federal Government, including elements of the intelligence community, the Secretary determines appropriate. . Not later than five years after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress a report on assistance provided under section 2279e of title 10, United States Code, as added by subsection (a), including an assessment of— the effectiveness of the technology used to provide such assistance; and how such assistance has affected fentanyl trafficking investigations.
