Section 705 of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 ( 6 U.S.C. 345 ) is amended— in subsection (a), by inserting appointed pursuant to section 103(d)(3), before who shall report ; by redesignating subsection
(b)as subsection (c); and by inserting after subsection
(a)the following new subsection: The Secretary shall assign to the Officer permanent staff and resources to assist the Officer in carrying out the duties of the Officer under subsection (a). .
