Section 1017(d) of the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010 ( 12 U.S.C. 5497(d) ) is amended— in paragraph (2)— in the first sentence, by inserting direct before victims ; and by striking the second sentence; and by adding at the end the following: With respect to a civil penalty described under paragraph (1), if the Bureau makes payments to all of the direct victims of activities for which that civil penalty was imposed, the Bureau shall transfer all amounts that remain in the Civil Penalty Fund with respect to that civil penalty to the general fund of the Treasury. .
