Sec. 134. Support for Bangladesh democracy and labor rights programs

The Secretary of State is authorized to provide assistance under the Foreign Assistance Act to support and develop programs in Bangladesh that promote or expand— freedom of expression, including in the media, by— supporting media personnel who are victims of arbitrary arrests and legal harassment about educating them about their rights and resources under Bangladeshi law; and education and training for media personnel on how to promote democratic values in a restrictive environment; access to labor rights, including— strengthened legal and policy frameworks to protect workers seeking redress for gender-based violence; and strengthened legal and policy frameworks for migrant workers; and improved working conditions, including in Bangladesh’s Ready Made Garment
(RMG)sector. There is authorized to be appropriated $10,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2025 through 2027 for the Secretary of State to carry out this section, which upon appropriation shall remain available until expended.
