Title IX of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 ( 7 U.S.C. 8101 et seq. ) is amended by adding at the end the following: In this section, the term agrivoltaic system means a system under which solar energy production and agricultural production, including crop or animal production, occurs in an integrated manner on the same piece of land for the duration of the production of solar energy. The Secretary shall ensure that outreach and education relating to agrivoltaic systems is conducted at the State and local levels for— programs that provide financial assistance under section 9007; and applicable programs administered by the Rural Utilities Service and the Rural Business-Cooperative Service.
Not later than December 31, 2025, and each December 31 of the 4 years thereafter, the Secretary shall make publicly available a report that describes— each project that incorporates an agrivoltaic system carried out by recipients of a program described in paragraph
(1)or
(2)of subsection
(b)during the preceding fiscal year; and the total amount of funding expended on those projects during the preceding fiscal year. Not later than December 31, 2027, the Secretary shall coordinate with the Secretary of Energy to issue guidance on best practices for agrivoltaic systems, which shall incorporate lessons learned from the projects described in subsection (c)(1). .
