Sec. 1061. Consideration of protracted conflicts in planning assumptions

Not later than July 1, 2025, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities, in coordination with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and with input from the combatant commands, shall deliver to the Secretary of Defense defense planning scenarios that use protracted conflicts of at least 6, 12, and 24 months as planning assumptions. Not later than July 1, 2025, the combatant commands, in coordination with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities, shall deliver to the Secretary of Defense branches to operational plans that use protracted conflicts of 6, 12, and 24 months as planning assumptions.
Not later than September 1, 2025, the Secretary of Defense shall provide a briefing to the congressional defense committees summarizing the implications of the plans described in subsections
(a)and
(b)on total munition requirements in the context of these planning scenarios.
