Section 202 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act ( 29 U.S.C. 3271 ) is amended— by amending paragraph
(1)to read as follows: assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills (including digital literacy skills and information literacy) necessary for employment, economic self-sufficiency, and full participation in all aspects of adult life; ; and in paragraph (4)(A)— in clause (i), by striking and at the end; and by inserting after clause
(ii)the following: digital literacy skills and information literacy; and . Section 203 of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act ( 29 U.S.C. 3272 ) is amended— by redesignating paragraphs
(10)through
(17)as paragraphs
(11)through (18), respectively; in paragraph (1)— in subparagraph (B), by striking and at the end; by redesignating subparagraph
(C)as subparagraph (D); and by inserting after subparagraph
(B)the following: develop and use digital technology skills; and ; in paragraph (2), by inserting , digital skills activities offered in conjunction with other adult education and literacy activities after family literacy activities ; in paragraph (9), by adding at the end the following: Digital literacy and information literacy activities to enable parents or family members to develop and use digital literacy skills and information literacy to support their children’s learning. ; and by inserting after paragraph
(9)the following: The term information literacy means the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, understand, evaluate, analyze, and effectively use information (which encompasses spoken and broadcast words and videos, printed materials, and digital content, data, and images). . in paragraph (14), as redesignated by paragraph (1), by striking and solve problems, and all that follows through the period at the end and inserting solve problems, and use digital technology at levels of proficiency necessary to function effectively as an employee, a parent or a family member, and a member of society. .
