For the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2027, there is authorized to be appropriated for the Secretary of Health and Human Services (referred to in this section as the Secretary ) such sums as may be necessary to conduct, in consultation with the heads of agencies and offices of the Department of Health and Human Services, including the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Director of the National Institutes of Health, and the Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration— research on— the prevention of oral disease; oral disease management; evidence-based strategies to prevent tooth decay; rigorous, multidisciplinary research-based approaches to overcome disparities in oral health; perinatal, postnatal, and childhood oral health issues, including the integration of dental providers in settings where pediatricians practice; access, quality, and outcomes with respect to oral health services; and other topics as the Secretary determines appropriate; and an evaluation of oral health service delivery to underserved and vulnerable populations, including an evaluation of workforce models to enhance oral health service delivery.
Funds appropriated under this section shall be used to supplement, and not supplant, other Federal, State, and local public funds provided for activities described in subsection (a).
