In this Act: The term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Senate; and the Committee on Financial Services of the House of Representatives. The term covered person means— an individual who is a citizen or national of Iran and is acting on behalf of the Government of Iran; an entity organized under the laws of Iran or otherwise subject to the jurisdiction of the Government of Iran; and an individual or entity that provides material, tactical, operational, developmental, or financial support to— the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps; any agency or instrumentality of the Armed Forces of Iran; any agency or instrumentality related to the nuclear program of Iran; or any organization designated as a foreign terrorist organization under section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act ( 8 U.S.C. 1189 ), including Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, al-Qa’ida, and al-Shabaab.
The term covered provision of law means— section 1245 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 ( 22 U.S.C. 8513a ); or section 1244 or 1247 of the Iran Freedom and Counter-Proliferation Act of 2012 (22 U.S.C. 8803 and 8806). The term covered waiver authority means the authority to issue a waiver of the requirement to impose sanctions under— section 1245(d)(5) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 ( 22 U.S.C. 8513a(d)(5) ); or section 1244(i) or 1247(f) of the Iran Freedom and Counter-Proliferation Act of 2012 ( 22 U.S.C. 8803(i) and 8806(f)).
