In this title: The term covered establishment means— an official establishment (as defined in section 301.2 of title 9, Code of Federal Regulations (or successor regulations)) that is subject to inspection under the Federal Meat Inspection Act ( 21 U.S.C. 601 et seq. ); and an official establishment (as defined in section 381.1(b) of title 9, Code of Federal Regulations (or successor regulations)) that is subject to inspection under the Poultry Products Inspection Act ( 21 U.S.C. 451 et seq. ). Unless otherwise specified, the terms employee and employer have the meanings given those terms in section 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 ( 29 U.S.C. 652 ).
