Nothing in this Act shall be construed to modify, limit, or supersede the operation of any privacy or security provision in— section 552a of title 5, United States Code (commonly known as the Privacy Act of 1974 ); the Right to Financial Privacy Act of 1978 ( 12 U.S.C. 3401 et seq. ); the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1681 et seq. ); the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1692 et seq. ); the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 ( 15 U.S.C. 6501 et seq. ); title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act ( 15 U.S.C. 6801 et seq. ); chapters 119, 123, and 206 of title 18, United States Code; section 444 of the General Education Provisions Act ( 20 U.S.C. 1232g ) (commonly referred to as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 ); section 445 of the General Education Provisions Act ( 20 U.S.C. 1232h ); the Privacy Protection Act of 1980 ( 42 U.S.C. 2000aa et seq. ); the regulations promulgated under section 264(c) of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 ( 42 U.S.C. 1320d–2 note), as those regulations relate to— a person described in section 1172(a) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1320d–1(a) ); or transactions referred to in section 1173(a)(1) of the Social Security Act ( 42 U.S.C. 1320d–2(a)(1) ); the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act ( 47 U.S.C. 1001 et seq. ); sections 222 and 227 of the Communications Act of 1934 ( 47 U.S.C. 222 , 227); or any other privacy or security provision of Federal law.
