The Secretary of Defense may appoint two Principal Deputy Assistant Secretaries to report to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict— one of whom may be assigned to support the Assistant Secretary in the discharge of responsibilities specified in clause
(i)of section 138(b)(2)(A) of title 10, United States Code; and one of whom may be assigned to support the Assistant Secretary in the discharge of responsibilities specified in clause
(ii)of that section.
