Sec. 2879. Guidance on Department of Defense-wide standards for access to installations of the Department

Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall promulgate interim guidance to the appropriate official or officials within the Department of Defense for purposes of establishing final standards of the Department for fitness of individuals for access to installations of the Department, which shall include modifying Department of Defense Manual 5200.08, Physical Security Program: Access to DoD Installations , or any comparable or successor policy guidance document.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall promulgate final guidance described in subsection (a). Not later than 60 days after promulgating interim guidance required under subsection (a), the Secretary of Defense shall brief the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate the House of Representatives on such guidance, which shall include a timeline for promulgation of final guidance as required under subsection (b).
