Sec. 1624. Monitoring Iranian enrichment

In this section, the term significant enrichment activity means— any enrichment of any amount of uranium–235 to a purity percentage that is 5 percent higher than the purity percentage indicated in the prior submission to Congress under subsection (b)(1); or any enrichment of uranium–235 in a quantity exceeding 10 kilograms. Not later than 48 hours after the Director of National Intelligence assesses that the Islamic Republic of Iran has produced or possesses any amount of uranium–235 enriched to greater than 60 percent purity or has engaged in significant enrichment activity, the Director of National Intelligence shall submit to Congress such assessment, consistent with the protection of intelligence sources and methods.
For any submission required by this subsection, the Director of National Intelligence may rely upon existing products that reflect the current analytic judgment of the intelligence community, including reports or products produced in response to congressional mandate or requests from executive branch officials.
