Sec. 5722. Comptroller General study on biomedical research and development funded by Department of Defense

The Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study on the management by the Department of Defense of biomedical research and development funded by the Department, including a review of— patents for drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration that were supported with intramural or extramural funding from the Department; requirements of the Department for how grant recipients, contractors, and labs of the Department should disclose support by the Department in patents generated with funding from the Department; and the data systems of the Department for cataloging information about patents generated with funding from the Department.
Not later than March 31, 2024, the Comptroller General shall brief the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives on the study conducted under subsection (a). Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives a report on the study conducted under subsection (a).
