Sec. 1062. Briefing and report on use and effectiveness of United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

Not later than April 30, 2024, the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate and the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives a briefing and report on whether United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is being used effectively to defend the national security interests of the United States. The briefing and report required by subsection
(a)shall— consider— the presence and activities in Cuba of the militaries of foreign governments, such as the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China; and to what extent the presence and activities of those militaries could compromise the national security of the United States or of United States allies and partners; and discuss— options for dealing with the presence and activities of those militaries in Cuba; and how different use by the United States of United States Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, might mitigate risk.
