Section 502(a)(2) of the Housing Act of 1949 ( 42 U.S.C. 1472(a)(2) ) is amended to read as follows: The Secretary may extend the period of any loan made under this section for a total term of not more than 40 years. . The amendment made under subsection

(a)shall apply with respect to loans made under section 502 of the Housing Act of 1949 ( 42 U.S.C. 1472 ) before, on, or after the date of enactment of this Act.
