Sec. 606. District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands

Section 351(d)(1) of title 28, United States Code, as amended by section 605 of this Act, is amended by inserting , a judge and magistrate judge of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands before the period at the end. With respect to a judge of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, the clerk and chief judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit shall have the powers granted to a clerk and chief judge, and the Judicial Council of the Ninth Circuit shall have the powers granted to a judicial council, under chapter 16 of title 28, United States Code.
The provisions of sections 354(b) through 360 of title 28, United States Code, shall apply to the exercise by the Judicial Council of the Ninth Circuit of the powers of a judicial council under subparagraph (A). The determination pursuant to section 354(b) or 355 of title 28, United States Code, shall be made based on the grounds for removal of a judge from office under subsection
(b)of the first section of Public Law 95–157 ( 48 U.S.C. 1821(b) ). Certification and transmittal by the Judicial Conference of the United States of any complaint shall be made to the President for consideration under subsection
(b)of the first section of Public Law 95–157 ( 48 U.S.C. 1821(b) ). The laws made applicable to the judicial branch of the Federal Government under section 102 of this Act shall be applicable to the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. For purposes of this Act: The term covered employee includes employees of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. The District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands is a district court of the United States under paragraph (5)(A)(i)(II) of section 101.
