Sec. 803. Notice of contract cancellation or termination relating to remote or isolated installations

Chapter 365 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new section: Except as provided by subsection (b), not later than 30 days prior to the Secretary or any other official of an element of the Department of Defense cancelling or terminating a contract, the Secretary shall submit to Congress a notice of such cancellation or termination if such cancellation or termination involves a reduction in employment of not fewer than— 50 remote or isolated installation contractor employees; or 100 employees of contractors, including remote or isolated installation contractor employees. The Secretary may waive subsection
(a)with respect to the cancellation or termination of a contract if the Secretary determines that such waiver is in the interest of national security. If the Secretary waives subsection
(a)with respect to the cancellation or termination of a contract, the Secretary shall submit the notice required by such subsection with respect to such cancellation or termination not later than one week after such cancellation or termination. In this section: The term military installation has the meaning given such term in section 2801(c) of this title. The term remote or isolated installation means a military installation that is a remote military installation, as determined by the Secretary pursuant to the policy required by section 565 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( Public Law 117–81 ; 135 Stat. 1749; 10 U.S.C. 1781b note). The term remote or isolated installation contractor employee means an individual who— is an employee of a contractor; as such an employee, provides goods or services to a remote or isolated installation; and resides in the same geographic area as such remote or isolated installation. The term Secretary means the Secretary of Defense. .
