Sec. 1626. Reports and briefings on recommendations of the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States

On an annual basis during the five-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the progress of the Department of Defense with respect to the implementation of recommendations made by the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States established under section 1687 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( Public Law 117–81 ) that pertain to the Department of Defense.
Each such report shall include— for each such recommendation, a determination of whether the Secretary of Defense intends to implement the recommendation; in the case of a recommendation the Secretary intends to implement— the intended timeline such implementation; the total amount of funding required for such implementation; a description of any additional resources or authorities the Secretary determines is necessary for such implementation; and the plan for such implementation; in the case of a recommendation the Secretary determines is not advisable or feasible, the analysis and justification of the Secretary for making such determination; and in the case of a recommendation the Secretary determines the Department is already implementing through a separate effort, the analysis and justification of the Secretary for such determination.
Not less frequently than annually during the five-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the congressional defense committees a briefing on— the progress of the Secretary in analyzing and implementing the recommendations made by the Congressional Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States with respect to the Department of Defense; any programs, projects, or other activities of the Department the Secretary is carrying out as of such date to implement the recommendations of such Congressional Commission; and the amount of funding provided for such programs, projects, and activities.
