Section 126(c) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 ( Public Law 114–328 ; 130 Stat. 2035) is amended— in the subsection heading, by striking ; and inserting and CVN–81 ; CVN–81, and subsequent carriers in paragraph
(1)by striking and the CVN–81 and inserting the CVN–81, and each subsequent Ford-class aircraft carrier ; in paragraph (2)— in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking and the CVN–81 and inserting the CVN–81, and each subsequent Ford-class aircraft carrier ; and by adding at the end the following new subparagraphs: A comparison of the ship cost baseline to the most recent budget estimate available as of the date of the report, set forth separately for costs related to— development; procurement; and operations and sustainment. For each contract that requires the production of a contract performance report, estimates from the contractor and program manager of— the total cost of the ship at completion, taking into account any changes in costs known or anticipated as of the date of the report; and the schedule for completion of the ship, taking into account any variances to such schedule known or anticipated as of the date of the report. ; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph: The requirement to submit a report with respect to a Ford-class aircraft carrier under paragraph
(1)shall— begin in the year following the first fiscal year for which funds are appropriated for the procurement of the carrier; and end on the date the carrier reaches its obligation work limiting date. .
