The Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Secretary of State, shall conduct a study on steps that Israel, Egypt, and the United States can take to enhance international security measures on the border between Gaza and Egypt to ensure Hamas and other actors do not use tunnels or methods via the Mediterranean Sea to smuggle weapons and illicit goods. The Secretary shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report that contains the results of the study. The report required by this subsection shall include a description and map indicating existing tunnels on the border between Gaza and Egypt.
In this subsection, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives; and the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate.
