Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to Congress a report that describes compliance by the Department of Defense with the limitation on military-to-military exchange or contact with representatives of the People’s Liberation Army of the People’s Republic of China under section 1201 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2000 ( 10 U.S.C. 168 note). The report required by subsection
(a)shall include— a description of measures the Department of Defense is taking to mitigate the risk of the People’s Liberation Army gaining indirect knowledge of United States Armed Forces’ equipment and operational tactics, techniques, and products through interaction with the militaries of United States allies and partners; and an identification of any obstacles to ensuring United States allies and partners are sufficiently aware of the risk described in paragraph
(1)and on conducting the necessary follow-up and end-use monitoring to ensure compliance by such allies and partners.
