Beginning on January 1, 2025, the Secretary of Defense may not— establish any new positions within the Department of Defense with responsibility for matters relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion; or fill any vacancies in positions in the Department with responsibility for such matters. Nothing in this section may be construed to prevent the Secretary from reducing the number of positions relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion or from eliminating specific positions relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
