Except as otherwise expressly provided, whenever in this Act an amendment or repeal is expressed in terms of an amendment to, or repeal of, a section or other provision, the reference shall be considered to be made to a section or other provision of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1001 et seq. ). Except as otherwise expressly provided, whenever in this Act a reference to a section or other provision of the Higher Education Act of 1965 ( 20 U.S.C. 1001 et seq. ) refers to such section or other provision as amended or added by the FAFSA Simplification Act, the reference shall be considered to be made to the section or other provision as amended or added by— title VII of division FF of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (title VII of division FF of Public Law 116–260 ), subject to the effective date of section 701(b) of such Act, as amended by section 102(a) of the FAFSA Simplification Act Technical Corrections Act (division R of Public Law 117–103 ) (including the authorization provided under section 102(c)(1)(A) of such Act); and the FAFSA Simplification Act Technical Corrections Act (division R of Public Law 117–103 ).
