Sec. 906. Electronic conspicuity study

The Comptroller General shall conduct a study of technologies and methods that may be used by operators of unmanned aircraft systems to detect and avoid manned aircraft that may lawfully operate below 500 feet above ground level and that are— not equipped with a transponder or automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast out equipment; or otherwise not electronically conspicuous. In conducting the study required under subsection (a), the Comptroller General shall consult with— representatives of— unmanned aircraft systems manufacturers and operators; general aviation operators; agricultural aircraft operators; helicopter operators; and State and local governments; and any other stakeholder the Comptroller General determines appropriate.
Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the appropriate committees of Congress a report describing the results of such study.
