Sec. 1021. Air traffic surveillance over United States controlled oceanic airspace and other remote locations

Subject to the availability of appropriations, the Administrator, in consultation with the Administrator of NASA and other relevant Federal agencies, shall carry out research, development, demonstration, and testing to enable civil aviation surveillance over oceans and other remote locations to improve safety. Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator shall submit to the covered committees of Congress a report on the activities carried out under this section. Nothing in this section shall be construed to duplicate existing efforts conducted by the Administrator, in coordination with other Federal agencies.
