Section 781(b) of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 295h(b) ) is amended by adding at the end the following: The amount of a payment made under this section on behalf of an individual shall not be considered income for purposes of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. . Section 781(h) of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 295h(h)(1) ) is amended— in paragraph (1)— by striking the number and location of borrowers and inserting the number, occupation, and location of borrowers ; and by striking and at the end of the paragraph; in paragraph (2), by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: the number of applications for an award under this section that were denied due to a lack of sufficient funding. .
Section 781(j) of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 295h(j) ) is amended to read as follows: There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $75,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2024 through 2028. .
