In this title: The term respectful maternity care refers to care organized for, and provided to, pregnant and postpartum individuals in a manner that— is culturally and linguistically congruent; maintains their dignity, privacy, and confidentiality; ensures freedom from harm and mistreatment; and enables informed choice and continuous support. The term Secretary means the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
