In this subtitle: The term byproduct has the meaning given such term in section 7002(a) of the Energy Act of 2020 ( 30 U.S.C. 1606(a) ). The term Indian Tribe has the meaning given such term in section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act ( 25 U.S.C. 5304 ). The term mineral means any mineral of a kind that is locatable (including, but not limited to, such minerals located on lands acquired by the United States , as such term is defined in section 2 of the Mineral Leasing Act for Acquired Lands) under the Act of May 10, 1872 (Chapter 152; 17 Stat. 91).
Except as otherwise provided, the term Secretary means the Secretary of the Interior. The term State means— a State; the District of Columbia; the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; Guam; American Samoa; the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; and the United States Virgin Islands.
