Sec. 728. Pilot program on remote health monitoring technologies

The Secretary of Defense shall carry out a pilot program to furnish, to certain members of the Armed Forces, technologies that offer remote health monitoring. The pilot program shall include members— of special operations forces; and the Center for Initial Military Training of the Army, including members undergoing— basic combat training; and the future soldier preparatory course. Technologies furnished under the pilot program shall— use facial detection technology; and provide information on a member’s— heart rate, including variability; blood pressure; blood oxygen saturation level; and respiratory rate.
Not later than six months after commencing the pilot program, the Secretary shall provide to the congressional defense committees a briefing on the pilot program, including— an explanation of— the types of technologies considered for the pilot program; the success of the pilot program in increasing awareness of the physical and mental health of members furnished such technologies; and any potential barriers to the expansion of the pilot program; and recommendations for how the Secretary may use readily available remote health monitoring technologies to enhance physical and mental health awareness of members of the Armed Forces.
The pilot program shall terminate five years after the date of the enactment of this Act.
