It is the policy of the United States to contribute integrated air and missile defense capabilities, such as forward deployed AN/TPY-2 radars and Aegis Ashore sites, to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to defeat increasingly complex threats to the United States Armed Forces and the military forces of member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Europe. Not later than 270 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Conference of National Armaments Directors for Ballistic Missile Defense a report containing options to improve the existing integrated air and missile defense architecture to detect, track, and defend against increasingly complex adversarial missile threats to the territory of member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and deployed members of the United States Armed Forces.
Not later than 14 days after the completion of the report required under paragraph (1), the Secretary of Defense shall provide to the congressional defense committees a briefing on the options contained in the report and the steps necessary to implement any such option that is agreed to by the member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
