(1)of section 1062(d) of the William M.
(Mac)Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 ( Public Law 116–283 ; 10 U.S.C. 2241 ) is amended to read as follows: The term Confucius Institute means— any program that receives funding from or has any operational ties to— the Chinese International Education Foundation; or the Center for Language Exchange Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China; or any cultural institute directly or indirectly funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China. . Paragraph
(2)of section 1091(d) of the of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 ( Public Law 115–232 ; 132 Stat. 1998) is amended to read as follows: The term Confucius Institute means— any program that receives funding from or has any operational ties to— the Chinese International Education Foundation; or the Center for Language Exchange Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China; or any cultural institute directly or indirectly funded by the Government of the People’s Republic of China. .
