Section 890 of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 ( Public Law 115–232 ) is amended— by redesignating subsections
(b)and
(c)as subsections
(c)and (d), respectively; by inserting after subsection
(a)the following new subsection: The Secretary, acting through the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, shall ensure that each senior contracting official (as defined in section 1737 of title 10, United States Code) for a contract described in subsection
(a)has the discretion to implement the pilot program under this section efficiently and effectively by ensuring the following: That the pilot program does not include any preferences for contract type or specific contract requirements. That each Secretary of a military department has minimal reporting requirements to the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment with respect to the pilot program. ; and in subsection (d), as so redesignated, by striking January 2, 2024 and inserting January 2, 2028 .
