Sec. 2851. Guidance on Department of Defense-wide standards for access to military installations

Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall issue interim guidance to the appropriate official or officials within the Department of Defense for purposes of establishing final standards of the Department of Defense for determining the fitness of individuals for access to military installations, which shall include modifying volume 3 of the Department of Defense Manual 5200.08 titled Physical Security Program: Access to DoD Installations (dated January 2, 2019) or any comparable or successor policy guidance document.
Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall issue final guidance relating to the standards described in subsection (a). Not later than 60 days after issuing the interim guidance required under subsection (a), the Secretary of Defense shall brief the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and the House of Representatives on such guidance, which shall include a timeline for the issuance of such final guidance.
