The Comptroller General of the United States shall conduct a study to identify and assess the availability of affordable housing in areas having high housing costs and military or defense-related facilities or operations and the effects that limited availability of affordable housing in such areas has on defense production and readiness. The study shall identify examples of successful models and best practices for effectively increasing affordable housing stock in such areas. Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the results of the study conducted under subsection (a).
