Section 338B of the Public Health Service Act ( 42 U.S.C. 254l–1 ) is amended— in subsection (b)(1)(A), by striking or physician assistant and inserting physician assistant, or community health worker ; and by adding at the end the following: In this section, the term community health worker means an individual who— promotes wellness by helping individuals adopt healthy behaviors; implements programs and advocates for individuals who may have limited access to health resources and social services; and works closely with other health care and social service providers. .
