Sec. 609. Report on Chinese military activity in Djibouti

In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate ; the Committee on Armed Services of the Senate ; the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives ; and the Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives . Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Secretary of State, shall submit a report to Congress regarding Chinese military activity in Djibouti. The report required under subsection
(b)shall include— a summary of any incidents of harassment of United States military and embassy personnel by any element within the Government of the PRC; and an evaluation of the extent to which the presence of the PLA in Djibouti affects the United States military’s ability to operate in the region. The report required under subsection
(b)shall be unclassified, but may include a classified annex.
