Sec. 744. Clarification of membership requirements and compensation authority for independent suicide prevention and response review committee

Section 738 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2022 ( Public Law 117–81 ; 135 Stat. 1801) is amended— in subsection (b)(3), by inserting (except for a former member of an Armed Force) after Armed Force ; by redesignating subsections
(f)through
(h)as subsections
(g)through (i), respectively; and by inserting after subsection
(e)the following new subsection (f): The Secretary may compensate members of the committee established under subsection
(a)for the work of such members for the committee. A member of the committee established under subsection
(a)who receives compensation under paragraph
(1)shall not be considered a civilian employee of the Department of Defense for purposes of subsection (b)(3). .
