Of the funds authorized to be appropriated by this Act for fiscal year 2023 for the National Nuclear Security Administration for advanced manufacturing development, the Administrator for Nuclear Security may authorize an amount, not to exceed 5 percent of such funds, to be used by the director of a nuclear weapons production facility to engage in research, development, and demonstration activities in order to maintain and enhance the engineering and manufacturing capabilities at such facility.
In this section, the term nuclear weapons production facility means any of the following: The Kansas City National Security Campus, Kansas City, Missouri, and any related satellite location. The Y–12 National Security Complex, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The Pantex Plant, Amarillo, Texas. The Savannah River Site, Aiken, South Carolina. The Nevada National Security Site, North Las Vegas, Nevada.
