It is the sense of Congress that authorities of the Government of the Russian Federation detained opposition leader Alexei Navalny on false charges when he returned to Moscow on January 17, 2021, after receiving treatment for Novichok poisoning in Germany. Congress calls on the Government of the Russian Federation to immediately release Navalny and all other political prisoners in the Russian Federation currently imprisoned for exercising their fundamental rights.
