It shall be the policy of the United States— to support the rights of the people of Iran to exercise the freedom of speech, assembly, religion, and the press; to condemn Iran’s destabilizing activities, including the suppression of protests and demonstrations in Iran; to promote a free and open internet in Iran by supporting internet freedom programs and investing in firewall circumvention technologies; to defend the rights of women in Iran; and to hold leaders in Iran accountable for their contributions to human rights crises throughout the world, including in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Gaza, and Venezuela.
