Section 107(a) of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act ( 42 U.S.C. 5106c(a) ) is amended by striking paragraphs
(1)through
(4)and inserting the following: the assessment, investigation, and prosecution of suspected child abuse and neglect cases, including cases of suspected child sexual abuse, exploitation, and child sex trafficking, in a manner that limits additional trauma to the child and the child’s family; the assessment, investigation, and prosecution of cases of suspected child abuse-related fatalities and suspected child neglect-related fatalities, including through a child abuse investigative multidisciplinary review team, such as team from the State child death review program; and the assessment, investigation, and prosecution of cases involving children with disabilities or serious health-related problems, or other vulnerable populations, who are suspected victims of child abuse or neglect. . Section 107(c)(1) ( 42 U.S.C. 5106c(c)(1) ) is amended— in subparagraph (I), by striking and at the end; in subparagraph (J), by striking the period and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: individuals experienced in working with children or youth overrepresented in the child welfare system. . Section 107(d)(1) ( 42 U.S.C. 5106c(d)(1) ) is amended by striking and exploitation, and inserting exploitation, and child sex trafficking, . Section 107(e)(1) ( 42 U.S.C. 5106c(e)(1) ) is amended— in subparagraph (A), by striking and exploitation, and inserting exploitation, and child sex trafficking, ; in subparagraph (B), by striking and at the end; in subparagraph (C)— by striking and exploitation, and inserting exploitation, and child sex trafficking, ; and by striking the period at the end and inserting ; and ; and by adding at the end the following: improving coordination among agencies regarding reports of child abuse and neglect to ensure both law enforcement and child protective services agencies have ready access to full information regarding past reports, which may be done in coordination with other States, Indian Tribes, or agencies for other geographic regions. .
