Sec. 857. Congressional oversight of personnel and contracts of private security contractors

Not later than October 1, 2022, the Secretary of Defense, in consultation with each Secretary of a military department (as defined in section 101 of title 10, United States Code), shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the efforts and plans of the Department of Defense to implement the recommendations contained in the report of the Government Accountability Office titled Private Security Contractors: DOD Needs to Better Identify and Monitor Personnel and Contracts (GAO–21–255), dated July 29, 2021. The report required by subsection
(a)shall include— a summary of the actions planned or taken by the Secretary of Defense to implement the recommendations in the report of the Government Accountability Office described in such subsection; and a schedule for completing the implementation of each such recommendation, including specific milestones for such implementation. The report required by subsection
(a)shall be submitted in unclassified form but may include a classified annex.
