Subsection
(c)of section 610 of the Foreign Service Act of 1980 ( 22 U.S.C. 4010 ) is amended— in paragraph (1), in the matter preceding subparagraph (A), by striking suspend and inserting indefinitely suspend without duties ; by redesignating paragraph
(5)as paragraph (7); by inserting after paragraph
(4)the following new paragraphs: For each member of the Service suspended under paragraph (1)(A) whose security clearance remains suspended for more than one calendar year, not later than 30 days after the end of such calendar year, the Secretary of State shall report to the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Foreign Relations of the Senate in writing regarding the specific reasons relating to the duration of each such suspension. Any member of the Service suspended under paragraph (1)(B) may be suspended without pay only after a final written decision is provided to such member pursuant to paragraph (2). ; and in paragraph (7), as so redesignated— by striking this subsection and all that follows through The term in subparagraph
(A)and inserting this subsection, the term ; by redesignating clauses
(i)and
(ii)as subparagraphs
(A)and (B), respectively, and moving such subparagraphs 2 ems to the left; and by striking subparagraph
(B)(relating to the definition of suspend and suspension ).
