Section 322 of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 ( 52 U.S.C. 30124 ) is amended— in the heading, by striking ; Fraudulent in subsection (a)— by striking who is a candidate for Federal office or an employee or agent of such a candidate ; and in paragraph (1)— by striking fraudulently ; by striking under his control ; and by striking other candidate or political party or employee or agent thereof on a matter which is damaging to such other candidate or political party or employee or agent thereof and inserting real, potential, spurious, or non-existent candidate, political party, or political committee or organization, or employee or agent of any such candidate, political party, or political committee or organization ; and in subsection (b)— in the heading, by striking ; and Fraudulent in paragraph (1)— by striking fraudulently ; and by striking candidate or political party or employee or agent thereof for the purpose of soliciting contributions or donations and inserting real, potential, spurious, or non-existent candidate, political party, or political committee or organization, or employee or agent of any such candidate, political party, or political committee or organization when soliciting money or any other thing of value .
The amendments made by subsection
(a)shall take effect upon the expiration of the 90-day period which begins on the date of the enactment of this Act.
