Sec. 748. Report on coverage of behavioral and mental health crisis services under TRICARE program

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report on the scope of coverage under the TRICARE program of inpatient and outpatient behavioral and mental health crisis services. The report under subsection
(a)shall include, with respect to the period beginning on January 1, 2019, and ending on December 31, 2021, an identification of the following: The total amount of funds expended under the TRICARE program on behavioral and mental health crisis services, disaggregated by the site at which the service was furnished. The total amount of funds expended under such program for other services furnished to individuals in behavioral or mental health crisis. The provider types that billed for the services specified in paragraphs
(1)and (2). In this section: The term crisis services means the services identified as such in the document of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration published in 2020, titled National Guidelines for Behavioral Health Crisis Care: Best Practice Toolkit . The term TRICARE program has the meaning given that term in section 1072 of title 10, United States Code.
