Sec. 5914. Report on humanitarian situation and food security in Lebanon

Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President, acting through the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defense and in coordination with the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report that contains an evaluation of the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, as well as the impact of the deficit of wheat imports due to Russia’s further invasion of Ukraine, initiated on February 24, 2022. The report required by subsection
(a)shall include the following elements: The projected increase in malnutrition in Lebanon. The estimated increase in the number of food insecure individuals in Lebanon. The estimated number of individuals who will be faced with acute malnutrition due to food price inflation in Lebanon. Actions the United States Government is taking to address the aforementioned impacts. Any cooperation between the United States Government with allies and partners to address the aforementioned impacts. The potential impact of food insecurity on Department of Defense goals and objectives in Lebanon. In this section, the term appropriate congressional committees means— the Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Foreign Relations, and the Committee on Appropriations of the Senate; and the Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives.
