Sec. 5828. Report on political prisoners in Egypt

Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Director of National Intelligence, shall submit to the appropriate congressional committees a report on the status of political prisoners in Egypt. The report required by subsection
(a)shall include a detailed assessment of how many individuals are detained, imprisoned, or the victim of an enforced disappearance in Egypt, including individuals who— are human rights defenders; are detained, imprisoned, or otherwise physically restricted because of their political, religious, other conscientiously-held beliefs, or their identity; are prisoners who are arbitrarily detained; are victims of enforced disappearance or are reasonably suspected of being detained or imprisoned in a secret location; or have been subject to torture or other gross violations of human rights while detained or imprisoned. The report required by subsection
(a)shall be submitted in unclassified form, but portions of the report described in subsection
(b)may contain a classified annex, so long as such annex is provided separately from the unclassified report.
